League: ICE The Charlotte Cavaliers were originally founded as the Jewel of Carolina Drum & Bugle Corp in 1956. They were a founding member of the Mid-Atlantic Marching Arts League (founded in 1957), a mid-level drum corp and marching band league ranging from South Carolina to Pennsylvania. The Jewel of Carolina D&B Corp dominated the circuit, winning 6 of 8 MAMAL Championships from 1956 to 1964. They won a total of 9 MAMAL Championships. Once DCI emerged in 1972, many MAMAL corps jumped to DCI, and MAMAL folded soon thereafter. Jewel of Carolina was left without a league, and played exhibitions before folding in 1980. In 1995, the Southern League of Corps provided some funding to create a new Charlotte-based corp, called Charlotte's Crown. Charlotte's Crown competed in the SLC until it folded in 2005. They earned 6 SLC Championship silvers. When the SLC folded, their funding of Charlotte's Crown ceased, and the corp also folded. In 2014, the same vague yet friendly organization that started Pride of Peachtree supported funding to create yet another Charlotte-area corp, called the Charlotte Cavaliers. The Charlotte Cavaliers went through a few test seasons on the FMA Circuit and competed full time in ICE in Season 42. In Season 43, the Cavaliers dominated ICE and won the ICE Division 3 championship. Just a few days later, they won the bronze metal at the FMA D3 Corps Finals.
