The Whitecaps Drum & Bugle Corps
Level: 3
Influence: 730
Hometown: Grand Rapids, Michigan
A brand new, recreation based drum corps from West Michigan, under the direction of former Druids DBC director Douglas A. Olmstead!
Show Title
Mystery of the Tarot
Repertoire
By Key Poulan
In an effort to establish a firm tradition, the Whitecaps begin their first truly competetive season with the same show concept as their parent corps' (the Druids) before them, with a twist!
Mvt. I - The Fortune Teller
Depicts the entire deck, shuffling, cutting, cards and black magic. This short, running introduction reveals all the themes to be heard throughout the show.
Mvt. II - The Emporer/Strength
Royal flares and quick drill begin the true opener, which shows the audience a moment in the near future where they will be called upon to exhibit great courage. The entire movement builds to the climatic moment-- where the cards reveal the outcome will be favorous!
Mvt. III - The Magician/The Lovers
The teller warns of two figures to make themselves known-- the first is a man of great power who will use his power against you. But fret not, the second is a dark, handsome stranger for our audiences! Hidden behind large white sheets suspended from the pit, the corps' drill is visible only as dark shadows, until the last horrah, when the sheets are dropped and the dark stranger revealed!
Mvt. IV- The Fool
Ending with the same closer as the Druids', the cards reveal a favorable time of much rejoicing, probably with the dark stranger! The corps ends with "Two Dances", the sound of innocence and jolity!
