About
12/14/2023
I have since graduated with a Ph.D. in Integrative Molecular & Biomedical Sciences and recently been promoted to the rank of assistant professor of life science at a community college.

My youtube channel has seen a lot of growth, especially finding lots of old high school marching band videos.

Spirit of Westchestertonfieldville
Group Description
Level: 150
Influence: 221538
Hometown: Westchestertonfieldville, Iowa
The Westchestertonfieldville High School Weevil Marching Band formed in 1937 under the leadership of Mr. Karl Ackers. The band performed at many pep rallies and football games and the first marching band took the field in 1940 When World War II began, Mr. Acker left to serve his country and the band program folded. It wasn't until 1948 that band was offered again under the direction of Mr. Harold Bright where he taught the strict military-style of marching. New uniforms and instruments were purchased through the help of fundraisers and backing from the school administration. The band grew from 24 members to 108 at its highest in 1959. During his tenure, the Weevil Band won numerous awards for marching as well as concert contests. He also started the beginner band for 5th graders along with the junior high bands. The jazz band was started in 1953 and was known locally as the Starlight Jazz Band. Mr. Bright left in 1968 after a 20 year career with Westchesteronfieldville. The next 10 years were rough for the band as 6 directors came through this period. The band dwindled to 30 students and was in terrible shape. 1978 saw dramatic changes to the band program on the hiring of Mr. Charlie Pierce and Mr. James Newberry. The band switched to the new corps-style marching which was a big hit to the school and community. A flag and rifle line were introduced as well as a drum line that year. In 4 years, the band grew to 147 members. In that time, the name "Spirit of Westchestertonfieldville" was given to the band in honor of their success at the Iowa High School Music Association State Marching Band contests, state music festivals, and placement in the all-state bands. Today, the SoW continues this level of success that Westchestertonfieldville is proud to showcase.
