Background: I'm a full time freelance website programmer (php/mysql). I have a 11 month old baby boy. I am a US Navy Veteran. I started on trumpet then switched to trombone. I marched baritone in Blue Devils B 1996, 1997 (4th) and euphonium in Blue Devils A 1998 (3rd), 1999 (1st). I would have aged out in 2002 in BD but I joined the Navy early in the 2000 season. I marched baritone and taught marching at SoCal Dream 2006 (3rd), 2007 (3rd). I also taught marching at high schools in Hawaii and San Diego. I went to CSU Fresno and marched baritone in the marching band there. I play volleyball and I'm into import cars. I've had a Honda CRX, Integra Type R, Toyota MR2 and on my 3rd Toyota Supra (turbo)

That's pretty neat you where in the Navy. I'm still thinking about joining the Air Force farther down the line.

Make sure you get a good ASVAB score it will open up a lot of career choices

not bad! not perfect but probably higher than the average. I was an IT in the navy for almost 6 years. Got stationed in Hawaii and San Diego

And yeah, I was talking to the rest of the people around after I got my score. Everyone else had like 30 or less.

Yeah.. this took a practice test while I was at the recruiters, he scored so low the Navy wouldn't take him... so he walked over to the Army and they signed him right up. lol

I think the national average is around the 30s... which is pretty pathetic. Anything over 50 I think you can get a decent job.. the higher you get the better.

I was stationed in Wahiawa in Oahu and taught marching at Milalani HS and Moanalua HS while I was there. I taught Mt Carmel and Mongomery in San Diego too (yeah.. every school started with a M lol)

To be honest, I never actually marched! My area doesn't have marching bands - just pep band. But I love band with all my heart, and I miss it like you wouldn't believe. I've never felt as at home as I did among band kids.

I am a student at the University of Louisville and will be student teaching and graduating in the fall. I work as a kennel cleaner at a vets office. An accurate job description would entail: lion tamer, groomer, janitor, nurse, gourmet chef, automatic dish washer, and human pooper scooper. It's a fun job, though-and there's never a dull moment. My other jobs include: substitute lunch lady for the New Albany-Floyd County School Corp., bagpipe instructor, church instrumental music arranger and visual/winds staff for my alma mater.

I'm a senior at Firestone, and I play the flute in their band :] I was on guard for two years, I just decided to take a break for this season. I've done winterguard since I was a freshmen and I plan on continuing. I'm going to University of Akron next year and I plan on majoring in Biology or Nursing.

Next summer I plan on marching with Bluecoats, and if I can affording winterguard I hope to be doing either Artistry in Blue or Collage. In the future, Juxtaposition is my dream winterguard.

I'm a senior in high school and I marched trombone my freshman and sophomore year. Last year I was drum major and this year I will be drum major again. I was awarded the John Phillip Sousa Award my junior year for concert band excellence and a leadership award. I've been in high school jazz band for 5 years and percussion ensemble for 2 years. I went to district honor band in 8th grade (6th chair-2nd band) and 10th grade (12th chair-2nd alt).

Next year after high school I plan on marching with Carolina Crown or Spirit if the money and travel situation works out marching baritone.

For college I plan on attending Jacksonville State University or Georgia State University for my freshman and sophomore year majoring in Music Education, minoring in Spanish and/or Mathematics and World Geography. My junior and senior year I plan on attending the University of West Georgia. Out of college I hope to be teaching at the high school I attend and open a music camp for middle school and high school students who lack the music arts in their schools. I also would like to become a freelance drill writer.
