Hello all.
Seeing as the season starts tomorrow, I figured I should give a brief introduction so you guys know who will be writing the updates for the season.
My name is T.J., and I'm a Junior in College. I'm a percussionist working on a Music Ed Degree(Music Performance will come later on). I've been in love with the activity for years(WGI, DCI, DCA, DCE I love it all). Favorite corps is Carolina Crown, favorite WGI line is Music City Mystique. I try to keep up with everything that's happening(I usually always check DCI.org at the end of the day to check scores, and did the same during WGI), and I do my best to stay educated about the activity so I can hold a decent enough conversation with fellow musicians. I'm young but I do have an appreciation for the "Old School" Corps and older shows, although I admit that I truly love the shows from 1980 and beyond.
My Top Drum Corps Shows and WGI Shows
1. 'Frameworks' - Cavies 2002/ 'Seven' - Mystique 2004
2. 'The Zone' - Cadets 2005/ 'Touch' - Rhythm-X 2009
3. 'Phenomenon of Cool' - Blue Devils 2003/'The Apple' - RCC 2004
4. 'A Drum Corp Fan's Dream' - Madison Scouts 1995/'Mystique Traveling Side Show' - Mystique 2006
5.Tie: 'Phantom of the Opera' - SCV 1988-- 'Spartacus' - Phantom 2008/Toss up. There are about 5 shows in this spot alone. Most recent: 'Worth the Wait' - Pulse 2010
For those who were around during my time as staff writer in FMA v1, you know how I ran things. I will have a similar format to that, but I'm planning on adding A LOT of new stuff as well. Hopefully with a bigger community, more people will be able to get involved(interviews, 'polls', etc.) and we can make this just as interesting as logging in and spending your energy for your ensembles. Some of the changes I'm still working on, but one of them I can say is that I will have a (most likely daily) update listing the top 12 corps in all 3 divisions. I'm looking forward to this season and starting things off well with this new version of FMA.
If ya'll(it's okay, I'm a Southerner) have any questions feel free to ask. Good luck to everyone tomorrow and the remainder of the season.
