DETROIT, Mich.—The CGCO Detroit Regional at the Motor City welcomed teams from across the league for a day of fierce competition and captivating performances. From stunning artistic interpretations to bold, energetic routines, each group brought their A-game to the stage. Here’s a look at the highlights from both Division II and Division III.
Division II Showcases Strength and Precision
Hayfield Guard, fresh off their impressive season, continued to dominate with their show “The Art of Silence”. With strong performances in all areas, including Equipment (17.710) and Movement (17.680), they secured first place with an overall score of 87.770. Their General Effect score of 34.910 was a testament to their emotional connection with the audience, solidifying their place at the top.
Gulf Knights Independent, coming in at a close second with 86.900 overall, delivered a stellar performance with “Winter Guard”. The ensemble’s consistency across Equipment (17.355), Movement (17.350), and Ensemble (17.395) earned them near-perfect scores in all captions. Their General Effect score of 34.800 showed their creative flair, making them worthy contenders for the top spot.
Making a strong comeback after a hiatus, Green Hope Winterguard graced the stage with “R.E.M.”, captivating the audience with their precision and artistic expression. Their scores reflected a solid performance, with an overall score of 64.015, demonstrating their strong return after a break since season 115.
K.K.C.G. brought their own unique energy with “We”, securing third place with a score of 78.300 overall. Their General Effect score of 31.220 hinted at their ability to bring a fresh perspective to their performance, continuing to push boundaries.
In fourth, Palm Beach Wave Independent showed a powerful performance of “Mass Unfollowing”, exploring themes of digital isolation. Their score of 75.640 was a reflection of their solid equipment and ensemble work.
Blue Manhattan Italian Color Guard, though in fifth place with a score of 73.970, brought an energetic and entertaining performance titled “A New Year’s Resolution”. Their repertoire included works like the Rocky Theme, which resonated with the audience.
Rounding out the top spots was Victoria Brass Winter Guard, whose “Along Came a Spider…” narrative offered a touch of intrigue. Their overall score of 65.265 showed their passion and commitment to the craft, even as they continue to build on their performance.
Division III Brings Fresh Talent and Fresh Faces
In Division III, the competition was equally thrilling. Revival, in their debut season, captivated the audience with their performance of “Threads of Eternity”. The ensemble’s score of 57.060 was a promising start, with highlights from their emotional opener “Experience” and impactful closer “Time”. As newcomers, they proved they have the potential to rise quickly in the league.
RED Guard, also in their first season, showcased their electric performance with their show “Electric”. Their overall score of 54.285 was a testament to their strong start, and they’re one to watch as they continue to grow and develop.
Western High School Colorguard showed impressive energy in their show “Flowers”. With a score of 52.520, they may be one of the newest ensembles in the league, but their potential shines brightly as they continue to evolve.
Rounding out the competition, Lincoln-Way Combined Schools Winter Guard took the stage with “Square the Circle”, featuring music from Pat Metheny. Their score of 48.880 showed they have a strong foundation to build upon as they continue to grow into the season.
