Any other New Yorkers have/have had this? My solo is tomorrow and it makes me so anxious knowing that it's the last time I will practice it and next time is for real lol.
For everyone else, NYSSMA is where you play a level 1-6 solo (1 being easiest), play 3 scales (for level 1-2 you need to know 3, 3-4 7 scales, and 5-6 all scales), and sight read a piece. Levels 5/6 can get you in an all-state ensemble, but I'm a Alto Saxophone and to get in and be an Alto its so competitive that you would need to play a level 6 two years in a row and get a 99/100.
