Its been a while since I've last spoken with y'all and I'm really sorry. International Baccalaureate (IB) testing season does that to even the best of kids with other activities, apparently.

Anywho, I'm glad that the championship is being held at "Jerryworld." In reality, my high school has performed several times in that stadium during the regular marching season. Always a fun challenge trying to march a show designed for high school-lined fields on an NFL-lined field instead.

Just curious, but in reality, how big of a difference is it? I know that the hashes from high school to college are four steps in, but what is the high school to pro hashes difference?

There is a 17 foot, 5 inch difference between the high school and pro hashes.

How many 8 to 5 steps is that? Lol

geesh I never realized this---I do have to say that there arent many AstroTurf fields in Maine--so the first time we marched on that rather than natural grass was VERY odd and much bigger difference than our parking lot practice spot LOL it was like marching on a sponge!

Wouldn't they put high school hashmarks on the field? I've marched on a college field before and they relined it to high school, there's a difference between high school and college too

I know for Bands of America they put the infamous yellow tape on the field. At the Georgia Dome competition there would be three sets of hashes: NFL, NCAA, and the yellow HS hashes.

So basically just guess your dot if there's no tape? Lol

Gcurrier, I'm the opposite! My band marches on AstroTurf every day, so marching on grass at OU memorial stadium once a year is a HUGE difference. It eats sound a lot more I think.

My band never marched well on grass because we always have the turf field at school. The only competition we've gone to where we've dropped in score was the one on grass my sophomore year. Needless to say we haven't marched a competition on grass since haha

Connor, have you been to those competitions where the AstroTurf is flat and smooth? I hate those so much...
