Good Evening!
As another great season of FMA Marching Band winds to a close, some new official decisions have been made by the Board of Directors of Wayne Band Programs and the Wayne Boosters. Season 45 has brought us nothing short of the success that our students have worked toward and we could not be happier to carry on the tradition with smiling faces!
After several weeks of deliberation about the upcoming season, our staff and boosters have reached conclusive and final decisions regarding the future of the program. We will cover each point below.
Starting out this meeting was the change in direction for the growing program. After meeting with next seasons group of students, Tyler Cook, Director of Bands at Wayne, stated that the numbers have flexed upward from 90 to about 150. "This next season we have a record breaking 151 students on the field to help us pull off one of the biggest and highest potential shows we have ever created", Tyler said in a statement this evening. The show will be discussed later on in this article.
With these high numbers Mr. Cook and his staff have come to the decision that moving on to another league will be in the programs best interest. Tyler addressed the parents saying that the students needed to compete with a different caliber of groups. The new league has been chosen and will not be disclosed in this article or publicly.
The boosters and staff are putting all of their faith in newcoming director of 5 seasons. Tyler Cook joined the Wayne program 5 seasons ago with intentions of leaving the legacy that his teacher left him when he was with the program 20 years ago. He has done just that by leading them to 3 BRAVO championships and 1 BRAVO Runner Up Title. They would like to extend their gratitude to BRAVO for allowing them to attain these titles in a clean and disciplined competing atmosphere. Tyler has also led the group to attain 4 consecutive Top Ten FMA Finals appearances with superior ratings (90 or higher). He holds all of the Programs records and hopes to set more in the future.
Joining the group this next season is also veteran to the program from Season 32, Ben Snyder. Ben left the program after one season as Asst. Director under Russel Durst for personal reasons but now is back to help the program that has won his heart and pride. He was welcomed with open arms by boosters and staff. This now makes 5 Directors behind this program of excellence. Staff for this year is as follows: (Confirmed by Wayne Boosters)
Tyler Cook- Head Director/Brass Caption Head
A J Grant- Assistant Director/Woodwind Caption Head
Seth Dyers- Assistant Director/Visual Caption Head/Visual Designer
Tony Carson- Assistant Director/Percussion Caption Head/Percussion Arranger
Ben Snyder- Assistant Director/Colorguard Caption Head/Show Design Consultant and Coordinator
The Program is greatful to have this many hands on deck to help get Season 46 off to a great start and Season 45 to a great ending.
The program for Season 46 is simply entitled: THE WONDER.
Dealing with a supernatural wonder of the unnatural world. Tyler stated that most of the staffs inspiration came from the movie Interstellar. The whole show idea and synopsis will not be listed and explained in detail until the show is in full production, but Wayne plans to put on its biggest show to date.
