Season 42 PEARL Hype by echstrumpet8

I know it’s hard to believe, but PEARL just got even more interesting.

PEARL has 55 members as I write this on the night of division assignment day, which is tied for 6th with CADA in all drumlines. We have 55 members after 1 full season! How awesome is that?

Some big names got that “PEARL” brand next to their names this week. Both Choppers and Plato’s Drum joined over the offseason. They placed 10th and 11th, respectfully, at last year’s D1 finals. Hexstatic, who got a bronze at the D2 finals, and Aviators, who placed 4th, joins PEARL’s D2 ranks.

There were some rather result-shuffling promotions, too. Illuminati Drumline, reigning FMA D3 champion, made the jump to D2. Easternwood, PEARL’s D3 champ, did the same. Pandora, the PEARL Cup champion, made the rough jump to the ever-fierce Division 1. And The Drum Circlers, who made a mathematically planned jump to the FMA D2 gold, made the same rough jump.

With all these movements and new names (which includes PEARL’s D2 champion The Panther Pride Drumline, who rebranded to Pulse Percussion), this season’s results could be very, VERY different than last season’s. Two S.41 Finals golds will not be in the same division. Who is the new D3 favorite, now that Illuminati Drumline has moved on? Can Illuminati Drumline repeat their success in a potentially tight Division 2? Can Beatboxers fend off Cymbalism once again?

Well, I guess we’ll find out!

Right in the anticipations.

Just to stir things up and make it interesting, Black Beat B has been placed in DII this season. We took a well deserved vacation during the entire preseason until after division placements were made. At this time, our board approved the funding for another worldwide tour. Staff was upgraded across the board and we believe we have a higher calibre of talent this season. This years show only pushes the boundaries set last season,. With the dedication level of our members, we feel we can make up the lost time over the course of the season. Rest assured! We will still maintain the excellence and high standards of any Aftershock group.

We also have opening for our two shows. Drums Down Under on Wednesday, 8th April and New Zealand International Open on Wednesday, 15th April.

With the expansion of PEARL to over 50 members, I'm afraid that full PEARL Cup standings would take too much time this season. Would you all approve of me posting top 10 from each division, or top 25 overall?

It's early, but PEARL doesn't have a drumline in the top 12. Or top 20. Or the top 50 percent. But its early, and there are plenty of groups primed to make a run!

The defending D2 champs are still in contention, as they are the highest ranked group not in CADA. Black Beat NZ B's strategy of having a quiet offseason and being relegated to D2 has been effective so far, and they clock in at #9. Four other PEARL groups are in the top 25.

D3 Top 12
-XYZ-2.0 (#12)
XYZ-2.0 is currently in the last finals spot, but they are a full point ahead of 13th. 8 more drumlines are currently in semifinals spots.

I'm on my Spring Break next week, and I'm going on a cruise. Don't know when I can get the updated PEARL Cup Standings up over the week. If I have an opportunity to do so , then I will.

Hey guys, we need a few more drumlines to describe their shows in the fan favorite forum just to make it interesting. If any of you get the chance, please be creative. It would be very cool to have a lot of shows to choose from. Thanks!
