Great Lakes Sound Drum and Bugle Corps picked up a huge victory today at the Hoosier State Showdown XV, taking the gold away from The Panthers, Star of Indianapolis, and The Commonwealth Crusaders, thought to be huge rivals for Great Lakes Sound.
The win put Great Lakes Sound into 11th place overall in Division II Drum Corps action this season, and the group's goal now is to secure their spot in the DII Finals.
"It was a good show tonight," the corps director explains. "A lot of things went right that needed to go right. There's still lots of work to be done on this show, it's a technical show in music AND in visual. Our performance scores need to be higher, but our General Effect scores have been saving us to get us these golds."
This is The Lakers' 6th gold medal place this season, and their third consecutive gold in their events.
"It was a good sign for the future, in that we beat who we knew we needed to beat head-to-head. All in all, good day." the corps director states.
This is Great Lakes Sound's 4th competitive season as a drum corps in FMA, and their 2nd season in Division II. They have previously made DIII Finals once, Semis twice, and DII semis last season. Big things are happening for this relatively new program, and best of luck to them as their score climbs ever upward, getting ever closer to FMA Finals.
