So you are counting medals across all divisions?

Yes all divisions regardless of what Division they were in when medalist. So if XYZ corps got 3rd in division III two seasons ago but is now Division I they can participate

Sure! I went undefeated in Division 2 with my guard one season. Won by like 3 points, too. My guard also was .015 away from a bronze in D1 a couple season ago as well. That is where my true strength lies so I would like to compete with my guard more than my other groups.

I didn't think that it was that many.

Two things.

1. Not all of those groups are still active (unless I'm very mistaken).
2. Some of the groups that are still active probably won't be paying attention and will schedule something else that day anyway.

That being said, maybe restricting it to Division I/II Medalists would be worth considering if there is concern over space?

Nuts if it was I and II then I would be like Strad, but worse since none of my groups got a medal in div. II.

I probably missed a few but this is the list of active corps. I removed about another 50. You are right though, many are technically active but not enough to notice the event. I Also agree removing Division 3 takes a lot of the corps out as there is almost always a new top 3 every season.

I think for the first year we try this out I will keep it open to all medalist from all three divisions...however preference will be given to most recent medalists first as I accept groups. so a division 3 medalist from last year would get preference over a division 1 medalist from season 4, IF it comes down to running out of space. other than that, it will be first come basis of qualifiers.

Maybe the Master of FMA show should not only require that participants have won a Medal in Div 1-3 previously but also have achived Div 1 status. This would prevent the very one sided score differences if a Div 3 Medal winner was still in Div 3/2. I realize that there will probably be very few recent Div 3 Medal winners that are still in Div 3 the following season because they will have already been promoted to Div 2 but this also means that a recent Div 3 Medal winner would have no real chance of being competitive with other Div 2 let alone Div 1 medal winning groups.

but if they were still in div 3 they would still be up against div 3 corps, but i do see your point. its likely worse if they have moved up to division 1 unless they kept cruising along, they could be way back.

reminder Monday of finals week next season will be the first Masters of FMA series of shows! Currently you need to have placed in the top 3 of any season with that unit to qualify.

Acceptance will be a little slow as I determine eligibility. Remember, you have to have placed in to three at finals for any season and currently any Division to qualify at this time.
