I'm pretty sure NO coach ever has won a game and then said they wished they had lost instead. In this case it's a matter of finding a silver lining and manipulating a negative experience into a useful one. Its all BS. We Band Directors do the same type of thing.

Yeah it is a slap in the face.... but you even said yourself.. how many times have you guys lost to them? You shouldn't need another loss to have the motivation you need to win.

Strad I'm not condescending.. I'm just blunt and don't sugar coat things. I also have no empathy. If I see BS I will call it. What her coach said is BS no matter how you look at it. Maybe he was just trying to be positive about the loss which is good, but saying things like that to players who worship/idolize/etc him is putting the wrong mentality in his players. That's wrong.

Well there is a difference between making something positive and spewing BS.

Something positive would be this

Coach: Yeah, we got blown out at the game.. they are a great team but we will work hard and watch more tape and make the changes we need to make to be able to beat them next time. I will also try to stay in the entire game so I can actually coach my team.

Something blowing smoke up someones (__*__) would be like this

Coach: Hell. I wanted us to lose so we could analyze the team so we can beat them next time

Something negative would be like this

Coach: yeah screw the refs we should have won! So what if I got kicked out, I will kick the refs in the face next time. My team leads by themselves they don't need me there screw you all!!
