Div. I-
This was quiet a close and fierce match for the regional event from the marching band league, CAMarA. Scores for this division was very close.
Starting with Gold award, Dan Valley Regiment. They had a high score of 73.490. Due to the close regional event, they had a close lead of .015. Dan Valley also was awarded with best percussion, best general music, and general visual. Congrats!
Behind the leading .015, which would lead a silver award scoring 73.475, Virginia's Finest. Virginia's Finest Also was awarded with best guard and visual ensemble. They also were the first to perform for division I. They showd the field with a confident first starting band on the field. This left other bands worried and intimidated. Which might have been the cause for the group placing 2nd.
Shenandoah Marching Senate was only .02 behind in bronze. Their score was 73.455. This was the very last competing group of the night because of this group being the founder of the league. All bands want to be last to perform so they can leave the audience thinking that was the best group. Unfortunatly, they didnt quiet think they were the best. However the group did get bronze, just not what they wanted, gold. Hopefully they have a better performance next time.
Lets check who just missed the medals. 73.350, Marching Eagles. Performing 2nd for division I, they had a goal of at least top 5 and thats what they got, 4th place. Well done.
Another who missed the medals behind Marching Eagles by .07, in 5th place, was Tidewater Raptors. This groups goal was also top 5 and accomplished the goal as well. Well done
Next who missed the medals, scoring 72.990, in 6th place Knights Templar. This is quiet a group. They might or might not realize how good they are, but the audience sure gives them a loud applause.
Rounding up the top 7 we have Bueno Bueno with 72.540. This group has had some accomplishments over the couple years and this might not be one, but the crowd sure does like them and their unbelievable visual performance which the got highest score in.
The other 5 in the competition was Washington, The Nightingales, Band of Hannaford Brothers, The Amazing Knights, and Galileo Humpkins.
Div- II
Turner Knights awarded Gold with a score of 63.465. They actually had a lead of more than a whole point. They were also awarded with best winds, percussion, music ensemble, visual performance, and general music. As a matter fact, the goal of the group was to gain 1st in the event and had accomplished that. They had actually placed 1st in almost every category.
Virginia Episcopal is the lucky number 2 for silver with a woping almost 2 point score ahead of bronze award. Scoring 62.050, also was awarded best guard. Nicely done by Virginia Episcopal getting their goal, top 3. This is one of those groups, the crowd cheers extra loud for.
Bronze award scoring 60.050, Commonwealth Cadets. The Cadets had broken 60 flat, which was a beginning of the season accomplishment. The audience liked this group the most than any other division II group. They sure looked good out there.
Other participants that round up the top 7 were unstoppable(57.090), Morehead State Outdoor and Diddle Band(55.170), Amos(53.160), and Saint Marks(52.995).
Others who broke 50 flat were MacArthur, Highland, Shady Grove Sounds, Northeast, and Davidson County Wolves. The others who just missed it were The Pride of The Mountains, Marching Band and William Penn High School Marching Cadets. Good job all bands.
Div III-
There were only 4 groups in division III. The Gold award went to Glass HS Unicorn Regiment. They scored 54.095 winning by almost 6 points. The groups goal was 1st just as expected and were the very last division III group to perform. They left the audience, knowing they had they were the best division III in the event, hands down. They were also awarded with best of ALL catagories, music winds, music percussion, music ensemble, visual performance, guard, visual ensemble, general music, and general visual.
Silver went to the 48.925, Marching Monkeys. An exceptional, and good performance, hope to improve. They had accomplished getting 2nd in the competition this early in the season. Well done.
Bronze went to Friendswood Fighters. This is a group that some of the audience members told me they can't wait to see improve. They only scored a 48.650, but wait until the end of the season they will have a good score for division III.
Missing bronze unfortunatly was the Spirit of the Darkness. This might not have been a good score but the group has plenty of flexability and room to improve as the will.
May CAMarA have a good season this season 32!!!
