Blue Devils.. Marched there in the 90s. I love their attitude/mindset and how they do things and run practices. They also had the best music and most enjoyable shows to me (at least back then)

What do you think about the shows they do now? From like 2008-present, all the shows I have seen before this time have been not bad but after 2008 they just are too weird for me.

They are executed flawlessly, the concepts are very deep.. but they are trying to push the bar so much with a crazy/intricate show design/story that most people don't get it. You have to watch it 10 times, just to see what all is going on, and then you have to ask someone to translate what the show meaning actually is. But it's all speculation. BD show design now is kind of what Cavies drill writing became in the early 2000's.

I also haven't liked the 2nd half of BDs show in quite a while.. it seems like they put all their effort and thought into making an awesome show, get half way through and then are like.. crap, we need to get this done.. and throw something together really fast to finish out the show. Case in point.. pretty much every show in the 2000's. Compare to say.. 1994 or 1995

Big Cadets fan. I just like their blend of music and visual style more than anybody else. Although I think it's hard to beat Phantom's musical style when they're on their game (see: not Red Violin).

There are times when I love the Blue Devils, and there are times when I can't stand the Blue Devils. I just haven't found their music interesting in recent seasons (I'm way more into the music if you couldn't tell). To be fair I think their 1996 show is one of the more underrated of all time, given where it finished.

The 96 show was great.. actually my favorites were from 94-97.. there were some amazing years before that, but those years were fantastic. Honestly I got tired of the 96 show because I heard it every freakin day during practice lol but when I listen to it now it's pretty awesome. Early in the season that year they played the theme from Mission Impossible during the show, it was pretty sick, but they ended up taking it out before leaving on tour.

I normally don't like Phantom's music, but this past year I thought it was great. I'm not a fan of Cadets music (or their bouncing) but I will say that musically, they have some insane talent there and if they ever played their parking lot/standstill music on the field I would be ALL over that.. but no. instead Hoppy gives us Christmas music. lol

I'm just waiting for Carolina to finally pull through and win. They are close, but there is always going to be 2-3 other corps who will have a say in it, and I honestly don't think their staff has the experience competing at the level they are at to pull it through and finish off the season in 1st.. but I will say that if they ever get there, it will be pretty awesome. Last year could have been it, but not with BD performing the way they did. Like their show or not, they executed it damn near perfectly and were on a completely different level than anyone else out there. I just hope that they (BD) will play a more enjoyable/understandable show this year and stop with the cut and paste crap with the music. lol

Bluecoats.

First show I've ever seen was Bluecoats 2007. Their shows are always one of my favorites every year. They just seem to have an essence that no one else has. Can't quite put my finger on what it is.

My favorite is phantom because 2008 was the show that got me interested in drum corps. I am also waiting for crown to win, obviously they haven't done it yet and I think it would be really cool to be in the stands when that happens. Bluecoats are also one of my favorites due to the fact that their drumline is amazing.

Also I don't mind the Cadets as a whole but I agree that Hopkins is....well Hopkins. I thought that 2007 and 2008 Cadets were really bad but I actually kinda liked 2011 and 2012.

EDIT: As cire pointed out I apparently wrote corp instead of corps, thanks for the heads up.

Carolina Crown

My second year of marching band my band director took us all to the DCI show in Rome, NY. Crown was last and they blew my mind. I'd barely marched 2 years and then I saw that! I believe it was 2009. There were only 6 corps there lol. But Crown easily became my instant favorite.

A close second is Bluecoats. The following year I went again to the same show. I think everyone can agree that 2010 has to be their best show in forever!

I have been a huge fan of Velvet Knights. My best friend's dad marched with them back in the day and he has tons of VHS and DVDs of their performances and that was my first introduction to drum corps.

This is tough for me....

Depends on what time period as to which is my "favorite." In the 90s it was the Cadets. In the early 2000s it was the Cavies. Basically since 07 it's been Carolina Crown.

Bluecoats for me

They seem to have this energy and excitement in every show. I always enjoy their show concepts, they are not so contemporary that you have to really concentrate to get the point of it all. You can just sit back, relax, and watch the magic.

I am actually amazed that the Bluecoats don't score higher. They have a really awesome sound and have one of the best drumlines in all of DCI. The more I watch the more I like about the Bluecoats.

My only problem with the Bluecoats is the marching style. Basically, I love them from the press box, but it's a little irritating to watch close-ups.

The toe down thing? yeah I thought it was weird too, but that's new to them. Never seen someone do it for the whole show before.

I've never seen one do it before. But my knowledge of Drum Corps is mostly limited to 2000 and beyond. I've seen few shows from before 2000, and only almost none from before '89.

I've also decided on my absolute favorite Drum Corps. I have decided that my favorite is the Cavaliers. With the exception of this year, I feel they have been the most consistent since 2000.

Gonna throw my hat in the ring here, way late, and say that I am a die hard Blue knights fan because my first drum corps show was mustang, oklahoma 2014, and they performed their show that one second, and it blew my mind. Never before had i seen a show with such deep emotions, nor had I seen a show that left me teary eyed afterwards. It was incredible.
