EDIT: What's cool about this is that it can be applied to the other ensembles as well. (Tweaks might be needed, but pretty similar)

Eventually, if this works, what do you think about giving each "combine" is own sub-form in the Drum Corps discussion so it doesn't get cluttered up?

Couldn't we do this by time zone. Then divide the east at the Tennessee/North Carolina - Kentucky/Virginia Border? That would be 5 regions.

West (Pacific)
West-Central(Mountain)
East-Central (Central)
Northeast (KY, VA and North)
Southeast (TN/NC and South)

Well, the way I'm seeing it right now it is divided into 5 areas
North-East
Gulf Coast (list in a post above)
West
Mid-West
South-East

The only state left without one is Oklahoma since it is not a gulf-state, or a south east state.

Also, since only the North-East and Gulf Coast ones are being discussed right now, we can't be sure if there will be anymore or not. I think this way it divides in a more geographical sense since Time Zones are pretty straight-forward. This way, states can be moved around to make up for a lack of people in other areas.

So, now we have 4 out of the estimated 5 with just Oklahoma and The Western combine not having a topic yet.

@bando...I believe that Oklahoma should be considered Mid-West for your image since most of the state would be in the yellow region with just the tip in the west area.

Have you read all the posts ( not just this thread but all combines / alliances / regions etc.) to get the feel of what we are trying to do ?

Please add your comments and suggestions for discussion.
Plus, as I have read in the other threads they are selecting people to head up the different groups. Personally I have no interest in drumline or guard but would be happy to deal with the corps end of things unless someone else wants to.

Should we edit our signature to say what we are?

@Prof... Yes, I've read the comments.... My only concern is if we would only be able to compete within our unions.... I mean, that would be nice to have contests that only we could enter, but would Quarterfinals be the first time that we go up against the other Corps, bands, etc.?

Thats what the week for other corps competitions are for I think. I'm not too well informed on how the gulf coast combine is doing things though.

The combine is to make sure you have at least 10 contests per season. Figureing 4 weeks x 7, that gives you 28 show dates and the combine would make sure you had AT LEAST 10 shows.

The Mid-West Union would be fine with doing a competition together with any other combine

Great, how do we go about picking which weeks we host / travel ?
Alot will depend on how many corps in each combine. A combine with only 5 corps would host only 1 week where a combine with 10 corps would host 2 weeks ?

And since there are 7 contest days a week, maybe we should do combines in groups of 7 ?

I need to get a pen and paper to work on this, my heads starting to hurt

What I was thinking is have our combines host local/ region shows for the first 3 weeks of competition and then have travel competitions for the 4th and early finals week. My combine can host the ones on the 4th week and yours can host during the 5th week. The whole 'only host one competition per season' is what is causing trouble in my planning.

What about something like this:

Week 3 Gulf Coast Hosts / Midwest Travels to Gulf Coast
Week 4 Midwest Hosts / Gulf Coast travels to Midwest
then the next season reverse it so both regions / combines get the extra week to draw fans ?

We just have to pick the weeks so we can make arrangements with other combines maybe something like this ?

Week 1 Gulf Coast Hosts / NorthEast Travels to Gulf Coast
Week 1 Southwest Hosts / Midwest travels to Southwest
Week 2 Midwest Hosts / Southwest travels to Midwest
Week 2 NorthEast Hosts / Gulf Coast travels to Northeast

By each region / combines making alliances with 2 other regions /combines, that would basically give each of us 4 weeks of shows and then finals week ?
