Both the Tullahoma Azure Force and the Tullahoma Drum Machine managed to pull off repeats of their gold medal seasons while resetting all time high scores for their respective circuits. It's been a whirlwind couple of seasons with Tullahoma finally becoming a serious contender after a 15 season long fundraising effort. With the wins this season, Tullahoma joins TeamQuavers and Gcurrier as the only groups to win as many or more Gold Medals in Division 1 compared to their other medals.
For the Tullahoma Azure Force, victory was never assured.
"I felt like we were playing catch up to Nemesis the whole season," director Vinny admitted. Their show "Napoleon: An Epic Tale" had many selections that have field. One in particular became the mantra of the corps. "Le Chant de L'Oignon" or "The Chant of the Onion." Sung by Napoleon's soldiers as they marched to battle, the corps took to singing it (in French at that) as they marched through the lot. The song speaks of how much the soldiers liked onions. What better way to inspire a corps than with food?
With the end of this season, the director has decided he needs a break and will relegate the corps to the assistant director for the next few seasons. While there is hope that the high quality of the corps can be maintained throughout Vinny's absence, there is some doubt.
Meanwhile Vinny has failed for the second time to get a D1 Gold medal sweep due to the Azure Echo's loss. While a disappointment, there was not much surprise as the Echo had already fallen to 2nd by semifinals. Not a particularly close loss, the Echo was proud to walk away with Silver.
The Tullahoma City Spinners managed to live up to their show name, "Revenge Gold," and pulled it off after the surprise upset last season. While not breaking the record high they set two seasons ago, Tullahoma became the first unit to pull off a score above 99 three seasons in a row, winning two golds and a silver along the way and an undefeated season this year. This all-female guard has medaled every year since S13.
The Tullahoma Drum Machine also lived up to their show, "Unfinished Business." There was no surprise. Tullahoma dominated from beginning to end. With two gold medals in a row they continue to be the best unit ever produced from Tullahoma having won back in FMA 1.0 and twice here. This 3 time champion also pulled an undefeated run and has medaled every year since season 13.
