The Robinson Ram Band enjoyed another highly successful season, moving up the finals ladder to a likely seventh place finish. This next season, we are looking for an even stronger result: a top five finish. The show with which we hope to achieve this result will be called "The Great Train Robbery".
Mvt. 1: Blue Shades - Frank Ticheli
The robbers are seen here robbing the train. Successful, they flee the scene.
Mvt. 2: O Magnum Mysterium - Morten Lauridsen
The robbers feel remorse for their crime, and here pray for forgiveness.
Mvt. 3: Asphalt Cocktail - John Mackey
The police have found the robbers, and engage in a thrilling chase to catch them. Unfortunately for them, the robbers are too clever and cannot be captured.
The Lexington Legends Drum and Bugle Corps experienced our first year of Division 1 competition, and rose to the occasion very nicely; the group made finals in our first try and will likely pull off an eleventh place finish. This next season, as always, is all about improvement, and we shoot for the top ten. Our Season 13 show will be called "The Gladiator", and will feature music by the great Ottorino Respighi. Unlike "Raindrops", this is a very programmatic show with a distinct story.
Mvt. 1: Roman Festivals (Circus Maximus)
The gladiator enters the Colosseum to great fanfare and celebration.
Mvt. 2: Brazilian Impressions (Butantan)
The gladiator, however, is not so pleased with the situation. He has misgivings, and fears for his own death. This is foreshadowed by the use of the dies irae theme towards the end of the movement.
Mvt. 3: Church Windows (St. Michael the Archangel)
The gladiator enters battle with his enemy. After a great struggle, he is triumphant.
Mvt. 4: Roman Festivals (The Epiphany)
Triumphant, the gladiator is overjoyed, and so are the people watching. They crown and recognize him as a great champion.
