Big day in Vermont and Maine!

In Burlington at the Green Mountain Invitation the top 3 corps in the country, Blue Demons, defending Champions Nemesis and Epic all go head to head in what should be an outstanding night of drum corps! It starts early as the number 2 division II corps dunkirk patriots lead the ten division II and III corps.

In Portland Maine Lobster Fest has the whole city out for some fun!

Starting off this morning was the IIEA guard competition featuring Nobles of Grace and home favorite Knight Guard battling it out. These two are currently the top two guards in the country and have had less than a point spread between them! However, they aren’t the only guards pulling in the crowds today! We also have the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th place guards along with 9 other division I guards in attendance along with 8 division II guards! This is practically the midseason preview of finals right here!

Mid-day look for the IIEA-D drum line competition. Did we mention how heated these shows were? Knights Drumline and Drumming Imperials have been neck and neck! They show off their flare again today! However again we have a lot of the top division I competition at the show as we also have 4th, 5th, 7th-10th percussions in the country at the show! They will be laying it down to upset the current number one and home town drum line! Nine division II and III lines will also be in competition.

Finally we end the day with the Fantasy Bands of America Marching Band show and presentation of the day’s entire winners with the Gold and Silver medalist from each category performing an encore show. The Marching Knights look poised to take the show for themselves, but Blue Demons B, Night Area HS, Lakewood Ranch Marching Mustangs and Shenandoah Marching State bring some top twelve sound to the field along with 8 other fine Division I Marching Bands. Opening up the show will be 12 division II and III bands.

Of course along with the amazing sights and sounds of the day, there is also some great Maine food, like Maine Lobster Rolls and stew, clam chowder, Maine baked potatoes, fried clams and crab cakes and of course Blueberry Cake! The event will also feature several Maine brewers like Seadog, Gritty’s and Geary’s.
