Season 12 marks the fifth full season of competition for the Robinson Ram Band. That being the case, we intend on making this a season to remember; the goal is not just to crack the top ten, we hope to compete for a top six placement. The show we will be putting on the field in Season 12 is titled "In Times Like These", and is a sort of musical tribute to the 1920's. The music in this show is all from either Porgy and Bess or Chicago.
Movement 1: Summertime - George Gershwin
Movement 2: We Both Reached for the Gun - John Kander
Movement 3: All That Jazz - John Kander
Movement 4: It Ain't Necessarily So - George Gershwin
Movement 5: Summertime (Reprise) - George Gershwin
Season 12 marks the fifth full season of competition for the Lexington Legends as well, and we are committed to making this a truly special season. Our goal is to make finals (we are anticipating a bump to Division I), and the show we will be performing is titled "Raindrops". Unlike the last couple of seasons, this show does not have characters or a true plot, but is merely our musical representation of a rainstorm.
Movement 1: Symphony No. 2 (Mvt. 1) - Jean Sibelius
The show begins with a brief introduction intended to depict water in a lake, or the ocean.
Movement 2: Liquid - Jay Bocook
For the second movement, we borrow music from The Cadets. The water is becoming more agitated, and a cloud is forming.
Movement 3: Water Night - Eric Whitacre
The cloud is now fully formed. This is the calm before the storm
Movement 4: On the Waterfront - Leonard Bernstein
A savage rainstorm erupts.
Movement 5: Symphony No. 2 (Mvt. 1) - Jean Sibelius
We opt for a quiet ending with this show; the rain has subsided, and is now flowing down a river.
