The Druids Take August
August 6th, 2011 1:41pm
The past 6 days have marked a milestone in history for the Druids Drum & Bugle Corps-- as they place within the top 3 overall in Div. II after every event this week.
The most recent achievement came as the scores were announced and the Druids crowned as the FMA Indianapolis Div. II Champion--- taking Vis. Performance, Guard, and Music GE caption awards to boot.
"This was an incredibly important show for us," said Douglas Olmstead, executive director and founder.
"Regional events are always big, and this one was no different. We certainly proved tonight that the Druids are Championship material. You could ask any of the 8,000 fans present last night."
We also caught up with music arranger Nick Klawitter to get his thoughts.
"Even though our biggest competitors (Synechdoche) were not present, I feel we really proved something to the FMA community last night."
The FMA Regional was the first time the Druids have been slotted in 1st of a Division. Will they be able to hold the ground they are making? It's an ever changing game.

^Uh... some people play the game more than others. It makes the game much more fun when you do this kind of stuff.

Not to mention, I would imagine some people with jobs do their work on these really cool things called computers... Most computers can multitask.

@gman2011
LOL I do have a job, thanks. I am a tech for a marching band, as well as do private lessons AND I am a full time student-- also in marching band and most other ensembles in school. I am a DCI vet and going to a music educators symposium hosted by DCI to learn to run a dci competitive group. What do YOU do?
Also, it took me all of 5 minutes to do this press release. WOOOAAHHH so much time.
@ corndogshuffle
It's still anyone's game man.
@ bando
It's the people who DON'T do this sort of thing that make the game boring. I love reading press releases.

Agree with everything you said Olmstead.
Although I think you're being kind by implying anyone but you has a chance at Drum Corps Division II, given the trend that has been happening this whole season!

Meh, I just know the game, and love my Druids.
Plus with the symposium this weekend, who knows what might happen while I am busy with a 5 hour drive to Indy and an ALL DAY event.
